Cancun proper is home to two beautiful 18 hole championship golf courses.   One is the Pok-Ta-Pok course which runs along the the coast of the Caribbean and also Laguna Nichupté, the other is the Hilton Cancun Golf Club course that hugs the shores of Laguna Nichupté near the El Rey ruins on Kukulcán Blvd.  The Hilton course is rumored to have alligators in one of the water hazards.

Cancun's newest course, a Jack Nicklaus signature course is located about 15 minutes  west of the hotel zone on the road to Playa del Carmen and Tulum.  The Golf Club at Moon Palace is a 7,201 yard course laid out among the areas natural mangroves.  The course also features a modern club house which houses a complete spa.

Another 18 hole championship course is located about 50 miles down the coast near the Continental Plaza Playacar hotel.  Playacar is adjacent to Playa del Carmen.   The Playacar course, which is carved into the Mayan Jungle features many lakes and some incredible natural vegetation.  This is a 7,202 yard course which was designed by Robert Von Hagge

A couple of three par executive courses can be found along  Kukulcán Blvd at the Meliá Cancun hotel and the Oasis Cancun hotel.  A nice miniature golf course is located at the Cancun Palace hotel.

Pok-Ta-Pok also has two tennis courts that are open to the public.  Many of the hotels also have courts that are open to the public, some for a small fee.  The Hotel Krystal and the Omni Cancun are two that welcome the public to their tennis courts.  Lessons are also available at some of the hotels.
