Cancun Snorkeling Adventure Tours & Packages.
Snorkeling is easier and safer than scuba diving.
Cancun snorkeling is a lot more convenient and safe than scuba diving. Scuba requires special gear and training, and diving beyond a depth of 30 feet requires a certification. Many people who come to Cancun prefer the simplicity of snorkeling instead. All it requires is mask, basic common sense when it comes to getting in the water, and flippers that you can find almost anywhere on the beach.
Cancun beaches are generally not the best places to see a lot while you are snorkeling.
This is not to say you should not try. There are always some fish swimming around under the water, along with other marine life that commonly inhabits inshore areas. Expect to see a lot of sand, though if you are “wade snorkeling” off a Cancun beach in waste deep water.
Coral Reefs are a much better environment in which to snorkel in Cancun.
The second largest coral reef in the world lies just under the water in the general area of Cancun. One portion of this reef comes almost all the way up to the shoreline of one of the beaches (near the Club Med resort). If you are not the world’s best swimmer, but still want to see what a coral reef looks like under water, this is a great place to wade out with flippers on your feet and see find an amazing diversity of marine life in only chest-high water.
Beautiful Fish abound throughout the reefs and around their perimeters.
As a tropical climate, Cancun is home to thousands of exotic fish species. Snorkeling anywhere near a concentration of fish is like watching a marine wildlife documentary first hand in 3D. Perhaps no place on earth has a greater variety of fish other than the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. Please be aware that both the fish, all coral (regardless of whether it looks like it is living or dead), and every other living thing in the reef are protected by Mexican Law.
Cancun snorkeling is about being a quiet and unobtrusive observer who appreciates the simplicity and beauty of Nature at close range. Look but do not touch, and only take memories with you.
Snorkeling Tours are the best way to see the most off of Cancun shores.
Since main portion of the reef lies offshore from Cancun, snorkeling tours are a much better way to see the major portions of the reef and the greatest variety of marine life. Cancun snorkeling tours are usually held in much deeper water than what you encounter off the beach, so lifeguards closely supervise tourists in the water to make certain no one gets lost, left behind, or experiences any difficulties swimming. Snorkeling gear is provided by the boat and the crew on all of these Cancun-based tours, and boats run out to places like Cozumel and Isla Mujeres throughout the week for all those who want to experience this simple, yet exciting first hand encounter with the ocean and its life. |
