Cancun Mexico Beaches & Caribbean Water Sports & Activities.

Cancun beaches offer amazing views of blue Caribbean water both from the north side of the Hotel Zone and from the East Side.

Most people who visit Cancun spend a great deal of time on the beach, enjoying a wide range of water sports and activities.  Many hotels that border the beaches offer Cancun guests sun shelters, wait staff, beach bars, lifeguards, and even showers to wash off in after a dip in the water.

Cancun beaches are carefully and professionally maintained.

Because the Yucatan Peninsula does occasionally experience hurricanes, it is necessary to sometimes transport sand to the island.  Do not let news reports mislead you into thinking that an occasional hurricane in Cancun will affect its beaches for very long.  Things get fixed here really quickly so vacationers can experience the otherwise ideal weather that Mexico offers year round.  After hurricane Wilma, for example, 55.000 cubic meters of sand were dredged up from the ocean to the north of the island.  This was actually sand that had been on the island, and restoration work simply moved it back to where it belonged.

Cancun beaches are carefully watched by lifeguards and Cancun weather conditions that can affect the water are also closely monitored.

You will occasionally see flags in the sand that are used to indicate the current water safety conditions.  A black flag in the sand means stay out of the water, period.   Yellow flags represent caution, and red flags represent possible danger.  If you are not an expert swimmer, or if you have brought your children with you, the best and safest time to be in the water is when you see a green flag.

A day on a Cancun beach is not only a day beside some of the most beautiful water in the world, but it is also a great opportunity to experience International culture on a whole new level.

Cancun attracts vacationers from every continent, and people from all walks of life come here to relax by the water, get in the water, and mingle by the ocean.  Getting to know people with a different point of view is a great way to see the world from a new perspective, and a wonderful compliment to your Cancun vacation.  If you speak more than one language, you can also brush up on your foreign language skills in Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Japanese.

Beaches also provide a hub for the most popular sports and activities in Cancun.

It is common to find volleyball nets and tennis courts in front of All-Inclusive Resorts and Luxury Hotels.  Water sports are even more intensely pursued by the crowds.  Find parasailing, swimming, boating, water skiing, and jet skiing just a few steps from your hotel.

Some people just want to relax, however, and have some alone time or quiet time by the ocean.  Although it may seem impossible to find this type of solitude or romantic time alone in such a popular tourist locale, believe it or not, it is possible.  Cancun beaches stretch on for so many miles that you can always find a quiet spot for a romantic conversation with your partner, or layout in a hammock in the shade and just relax.
