Cancun Weddings and Wedding Planning Services
Couples who want to get married in Cancun can choose from any number of beautiful and tropical resort settings. There are countless options to make the memory of this special day last a lifetime. Most people who get married in Cancun either purchase a wedding package for a flat rate or contract the services of a Cancun wedding planner. Today we will look at a few tips on both options to help you plan and experience your dream wedding.
Wedding Planning Services are available at almost every resort and hotel.
The hotels in and around Cancun are famous for their 5-star customer service, so it is usually very affordable and simple to plan your Cancun wedding through the concierge service where you are staying. Hosting your wedding at a Cancun hotel or villa also gives you the ability to lodge friends and family whom you have invited as guests.
If you want a very elaborate wedding, we recommend staying at a Cancun All-Inclusive Resort and holding the ceremonies onsite. These resorts offer a wide range of wedding packages and superb luxuries that make for an ideal setting for an exchange of vows, a reception, and a honeymoon.
Believe it or not, Cancun weddings are sometimes much more affordable than they are in the States.
A basic package will cover the legal and administrative costs of marriage under Mexican law (typically $300.00-$600.00 USD + planner fees.) You can choose between a strictly civil ceremony, a religious ceremony with a non-denominational minister, or a custom, romantic combination of the two.
It is best to contract a Cancun wedding planner rather than trying to plan and coordinate it yourself.
This is because Cancun Centro is not specifically geared toward the tourist industry as is Cancun Island, and many people here would require you to be fluent in Spanish and familiar with Mexican law in order for you to work with them. Finding a Registro Civil (the equivalent of a Justice of the Peace) and coordinating all the things that go with a wedding may be difficult if you do not speak Spanish and do not understand the basics of the legal requirements to get married in Mexico. This is too much hassle for your wedding day, and something best left to a professional who will coordinate all of these services for you at a fee you can afford. .
You can find a wedding planner now in our online services directory.
You will need to show some documents to get married in Mexico.
New laws will soon go into effects that require passports and tourist stamps (or visa) to enter the country. You will also need a birth certificate. You will also have to take a blood test prior to marriage, and get a letter from the doctor who performs the test stating that you and your fiancé checked out fine. If you or your fiancé has ever been married before, you will have to show proof that you are not currently married by either producing a copy of the divorce decree or showing the death certificate of your previous spouse.
